Client: Fortescue Metals Group (FMG)
Design Capacity: 8000 mtph
The overburden handling systems that will be installed at Fortescue Metals Group's iron ore mine in the Pilbara include innovative size reduction equipment that was developed by FLS RAHCO. These systems are a collaborative effort among several FLSmidth Minerals companies: FLSmidth RAHCO from the US, FLSmidth Minerals Pty.and FLSmidth ABON in Australia, and FLSmidth MVT GmbH in Germany.
This project demonstrates FLS RAHCO's ability to design solutions that adapt to the client's needs. These innovative systems are automated and will provide significant operational savings to FMG’s Pilbara operation. Each system will include two 4000 tph crawler-mounted sizers, two mobile bridge conveyors (one 45 m and one 80 m) in addition to one 300 m mobile stacking conveyor. All equipment is crawler mounted allowing continuous conveying and stacking. System capacity is 8000 tonnes per hour. Installation of the first system will begin in August 2008 with commissioning in late November 2008. The second system will come on line four months later. ■
